What a showstopping event this year at the Met Gala! There was no shortage of daring, gorgeous and sublime new looks on the red carpet. It wasn’t an easy task here at Hairsay to narrow down our choices, as there was so much to choose from! Here is our list of the best beauty and hair trends of the night.
We start with Miranda Kerr and her glammed up, old Hollywood style! Reminiscent of a starlet from the silver screen, she effortlessly channeled screen sirens from a by-gone era. In a champagne and pink floral gown by Oscar De La Renta she captivated the crowds with her striking, elegant style. Her hairdo was a simple side part with a low bun, held in place with pins and styling gel. Her make-up was flawless and dewy, with a light foundation, followed by a dusting of powder on top. Her eyes were classically made-up with a natural deep purple brown eye shadow on the lids and a pale peach shadow along her brow bones. Mascara and black/brown eyeliner further enhanced her eye shape. The main focus: Miranda’s lips! They were painted a bold, orange-y red hue that pulled the iconic starlet look together!
Always a red carpet favorite, Jennifer Lopez exuded a chic 70’s, Studio 54 vibe with her flowing baby blue gown by Valentino. Her eyes were lined with thick black liner in a cat-eye shape and her lips were a very pale beige-y pink. Her skin had its signature JLo glow with a bronzer and highlighter. Her cheekbones were lightly accented with a peachy hued blush. Her hair was a flowing, long cascading waterfall of full honey-colored tresses running down her back and flipped to the front for the paparazzi!
Mrs. Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen went casual with her long, blonde wavy locks up in a high pony tail, held together with pins and bands. Her make-up was also very simple and natural with shimmery beige eye shadow and soft pink lips. Her Stella McCartney backless gown stole the show with a silky and long beaded metallic train that went on and on and on…
Kendall Jenner spiced up the red carpet with a sultry, bright red pout. She had her signature St. Tropez tan and her make-up was uber natural with a violet-beige eye-shadow and false lashes added for extra oomph! Her jet-black hair was swept to one side in a low maintenance, air dried, wavy style.
Sofía Sanchez Barrenechea wore her hair in a sleek high pony tail with an intricate fishtail braid that gave off a futuristic vibe straight out of Star Wars! Her make-up was also unique with the artistic application of brown and teal blue shadow in geometric shapes along her eyelids and black kohl eyeliner accenting her eyes. A strong cheekbone was made possible with a deep brown contour powder giving her a very chiseled look.
One of our favorite divas, La La Anthony did not disappoint with beautiful make-up that was soft and feminine. Her full lips were a rosy pink and her eyebrows were expertly shaped to perfection! Her hair was a half-up, half-down masterpiece with pins stuck through – reminiscent of a geisha, apropos for the theme of the evening!
Last, but not least, our favorite ICE QUEEN of the night, Kate Hudson, who gave her hair a white, icy wash of color at the ends and then knotted up her pale blonde hair into a geisha-inspired hairstyle. A feast for our eyes, Kate had her Japanese vibe going strong, while adding her own White Haute flavor! And her skin prep for the night included one of the biggest trends in skincare we’ve been seeing lately: Gold masks! While getting ready for the Met Gala 2017, in between styling sessions and waiting hours in the hair and makeup chair, many celebrities turned to gold masks to get ready for fashion’s biggest night out. These luxe masks are gold-infused and are supposed to tone, hydrate, brighten, and illuminate. Judging by the results, we think they did their job!
Kate Hudson, Stella McCartney, Bella Hadid and her Met Gala “date” – designer Alexander Wang all turned to these gold-infused sheet masks before the big event. Their masks of choice are by skincare guru Peter Thomas Roth, the 24k gold infused Un-Wrinkle Gold Intense Wrinkle Sheet Masks, sell for $68 for four masks, at sephora.com.
